Pittsburgh Youth Leadership (PYL) is a non-profit organization established in 2006. Since its founding, PYL has been taking inner-city, low-income, at-risk youth on all expenses paid biking adventures across America’s most breathtaking roads. When told what they would be doing, the children laughed and deemed it impossible. In eight years all participants have prevailed, and accomplished the seemingly impossible, showing them that they can do anything they set their mind to.

PYL has biked over 250,000 miles in shine or snow through 49 different States and Provinces, and continues to inspire the children of Pittsburgh to defy the odds. The continued success of PYL alumni in their pursuit of higher education, employment & military service has been as inspiration for us to continue our work with such wonderful kids.

PYL seeks to promote positive leadership skills, develop outdoor adventurous spirit, and provide opportunity to accomplish ambitious goals, leading to the fulfillment of our participant’s limitless potential.

An all-star group of PYL veterans accepted the challenge of cycling across America in 39 days. This enthusiastic & strong team of cyclists accomplished their goal riding from the Oregon Coast to the Jersey Shore. A documentary film of this adventure has been produced by 4TWELVE PICTURES & is presently awaiting acceptance by America’s leading film festivals.
