Pittsburgh Youth Leadership’s project goals include but are not limited to the following:

  • Teach leadership skills to inner-city youths

  • Provide an opportunity for these children to experience a world different than their limited community

  • Develop fellowship among youth leaders of different local communities

  • Create an environment of positive achievement and enhanced self-esteem

  • Reverse the trend of negative violence, criminal behavior and hopelessness by youthful activism and leadership

  • Develop healthy lifestyles to improve the quality of life among low-income, at-risk youth

  • Introduce our participants to a sense of environmental awareness

The essence of Pittsburgh Youth Leadership is to provide the means for our inner-city, low-income,
at-risk participants to successfully accomplish a momentous goal that will provide the impetus for
future achievements.

Our innovative programs have been successful in developing positive youth leadership in our communities as our participants have learned the rewards of goal-oriented, focused and cooperative behavior. We believe our programs offer a new approach to problem solving for children and an educational experience not otherwise obtainable. We are addressing developmental and economic deprivations that have led others to criminal activity, drugs and unemployment by introducing our participants to the positive effect of accomplishing very difficult goals.
